About me

I'm a 29 year old exercise physiologist working as a part time research assistant at Duke University while pursuing a goal of competing as a professional triathlete. I could probably be described as someone who is lacking in grand athletic ability, but I make no apologies for stubbornly pushing ahead while chasing big dreams of sporting success.

I grew up surfing on the Gulf Coast of Florida, in a sleepy little town called Indian Rocks Beach.  I am a proud Florida Gator, and it was living in Gainesville, Florida after graduating with a degree in Exercise Science where I really started to understand who I am.  Gainesville is where 'discovered' running and triathlon, and I spent a couple semesters as a chubby kid hanging around the UF Club Triathlon team- the TriGators.  Gainesville is also where I met my incredible wife Leigh, who has been an amazing partner as we go where ever the road takes us.

Most recently, Leigh and I spent the past three years in grad school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  I was fortunate enough to fall into a training group of some amazing athletes while in Birmingham, a few of which have had a lasting impact on my work ethic and competitive aspirations (John, Justin, and Jess- I can't thank you enough).

In February of 2011 we relocated to Chapel Hill, and we are absolutely loving NC.  Whether I'm running on the trails in the North Carolina Forest, or getting flogged by the roadies on weekend long rides, this is the place where I feel I am ready to flourish as an athlete.  I have all the resources in the world here, and now it is time to see if I can make something of this opportunity.
